This is a good french press attachment for your Jetboil (I use a JB Flash). I've taken it camping and backpacking, and in each case I'm glad I brought it along; there's nothing like a fresh cup of coffee in the cold morning. It's lightweight and it fits right into your JB cup.Three issues. First, it can take a bit of water to clean (which is an issue for people that have to carry all their water with them, like me, because they hike in areas with no water source). Second, it does allow a few grinds to end up in your cup. For me, that's not a big issue, but for others, it is. Third, under the LNT principles, you should be backpacking all your grinds out with you. For some people, that's a deal killer.Bottom line: if you want that french press coffee in the morning and you already have a JetBoil, this is a must-purchase. If you're on the fence about using this attachment but you're OK with instant coffee, go with instant coffee because of the grinds.I was a bit hesitant to try this press after reading user reviews stating that coffee grounds end up in the final product. However, my desire to have hot coffee out on the trail was overpowering so I gave it a try. I am using this press in my Jetboil Titanium Sol. I have obtained pretty much the same results after making about a dozen cups. I have never encountered a single coffee ground while drinking my fresh pressed coffee, however upon reaching the bottom of the cup there is always a fine sediment of grounds lying on the bottom of the cup. I haven't encountered any grittiness or unpleasant taste. These are not grounds in the bottom of the cup, but more like a dusty powder. The plastic rim of the press is perforated and can be slightly flared out to increase the diameter of the press so it is sure to seal against the side of the Jetboil cup when you push the screen to the bottom. In my opinion, the press works absolutely fine. Remember that we expect to compromise a bit when enjoying the luxury of hot coffee made on the trail. On the other hand, if I found sediment at the bottom of my cup after leisurely drinking a macchiato at an Italian cafe, I may have a different opinion in that scenario. If you demand perfect gourmet coffee, leave your hiking boots at home and hang out at Starbucks instead of the trail.I love this thing! It was able to filter even very fine grounds. At first it was a little difficult to work with and I ended up drinking a lot of grounds. These tips will really help out with that:1) As you can see in the picture, the bottom filter part has little plastic tab-like things. When stored inside the jetboil, they're kinda compressed and don't seal against the sides very well. Before use, I always gently pried them a little outwards. This makes it a little difficult to stick back in the cup for use, but also filters much better!2) Make sure you press STRAIGHT DOWN when using this. I tried it at first without using the plastic/rubber lid that comes with the jetboil. Use it exactly as shown in the picture, otherwise it inevitably slips just a little to one side and lets grounds come through the cracks3) Push down slowly! I tried to go too fast sometimes and the grounds would clog up the filter, making it very difficult to push down. Fighting against this doesn't help, what I found works best is to pull up on the filter a little bit, wait a couple seconds, and then continue to slowly push it down.It took me a lot of frustration and time to figure these out, but now that I have, it works perfectly 99% of the time. Great product, I'm very happy with it!!I used this little guy to press some coffee for some Army pals on the back ramp of my Bradley vehicle, towards the end of a 16 day, annual training session. Some of them were visibly relieved by the familiar comfort of a cup of Joe. One guy even cried. Thanks to the cool guy points I won that day, my military career is finally going places. If you've never used a French press to make coffee before, it's super easy. I even keep one at home in place of an electric pot. Heat water, add grounds, give it just a few minutes, and place the strainer on top of the container and push down on the plunger handle. That's it! You're ready to pour. No filters, no fuss, just super easy coffee. Probably tea as well. This actually works great with the Jetboil cup, keeps the grounds down well, and fits in the cup with the burner, canister, support stand, and pot support.I read the reviews here and initially decided against this french press option in lieu of a single serving mug style french press, but then decided financially to give it a try since I already had a Jetboil and this is about 1/4 the cost of what I was looking at. I use a Bodum press every morning and know what a quality press should be like. This is certainly no Bodum, but it is certainly acceptable for trail use. I didn't have any grounds in my finished product at all. There was some very light silt there, but I like that as it makes the last swallow that much stronger. All in all, I will have to disagree with the naysayers on here. This is a good option for those who have a Jetboil already and don't want to add significant weight to their packs. Good job Jetboil! Before I bought my JetBoil I did some looking around and researching, and this coffee press was something I felt that I needed to get, considering it really wasn't all that expensive. I was really pleased that it fits into my JetBoil Zip nice and neatly. For those of you that are just now starting your research, the JetBoil Zip, is the smallest, most basic JetBoil available, if it can fit in that, it'll work in any of them. My only fear is that it may not work with the JetBoil Sumo cup (the largest). As for the coffee itself, it turns out pretty good, as with all French presses, you will get some grounds in there, but when you're back country camping, REAL coffee really makes a difference. also in terms of packing, the press adds little to no weight, but if you're taking real coffee, you can just fill a zip-lock bag and go, but with instant coffee you produce about 200% more trash, as with real, you will be using one bag or container.Hope this helps.Great little addition to a jet boil. Makes a great cup of coffee. Just don't do what I done and try to re-heat the coffee with this still in!Works well and fits into the jetboil, was nearly put off by the other reviews.
