Kent has an enviable reputation among brush makers so I ordered one of these nail brushes with high hopes. Unfortunately, like many others here, my brush quickly became mouldy at the end grain on both ends of the brush. And it's not that I'm careless with it; I dry it as much as I can after every use and never let it sit in water. I think that Kent has an issue here with either wood selection or how they finish/seal these brushes. It's a shame because otherwise the brush is well made and it certainly performs well. Given that Kent has a royal warrant (by appointment to Her Majesty, etc.) I just hope that Elizabeth got a better one than I did. Oh, and despite trying to contact them via their website, they have never responded to me. Kent really should either fix this issue or start making brushes from a less permeable product.July 2020 and I wanted to edit my review.I contacted Kent via their website a few weeks ago to complain about this brush. To my surprise they responded to tell me they were now using "new technology to reduce the risk of this problem occurring" and offered to replace my brush. Yesterday a package arrived with two new NB3 brushes, so I kept one and gave one to a friend. Time will tell about how this long brush will last but I'll give kudos to Kent for admitting to the problem and to taking steps to correct it.Six months in, and it's a rock solid, daily, go to manicuring staple. At a price like this, you expect it to clean under your nails, the webbing of your hands, any ink/soil stains on your hands, and reduce the cuticles. It does all of that with a quickness.Again, at this price, you'd pretty much expect it to last for decades. It's tough to make the call this early into our relationship, but it easily feels as good or better than it did the day out of the box.I'll update periodically, but this is billed as the best, and thus far, it's living up to it's reputation.Nine month later: Some discoloration of the wood, almost certainly my own doing. The bristles, and that's what you're really buying, are phenomenal. In fact, last night, I was on a camping trip, looking at my nails and longing for this thing. This is indeed a five star product.Poor quality for the price! wood part of the brush turned color. bristles have been coming out. it is for scrubbing your finger nails, yet it doesn't hold up getting wet. evening air drying next to the sink. I have not let it sit in water. Crazy. Should hold up longer than a month don't you think? Plus you can't return it beyond a certain date. I have a feeling these are factory defects or something like that from this buyer. They are price double the price if you buy them direct. Notice in pics the black stains and the bristles coming on. There were more bristles fell out that are not on the brush that I threw away.just what I wanted for my beardI had one of these for many years when I lived in the UK and it was time to get a nice new one. They work great and are worth the money. Lasted many years .Wood breaks too easily from water usage.Great product, very well made.It has grown mold around the base of the bristles. I use this occasionally then shake it out and let it sit on the counter top to air dry. If I would purchase another one, I would go with a plastic type.Quite annoyed at myself for thinking that I was purchasing a quality product because the makers are Kent brushes. Within three days of using this, the wood began to go black, with the wood treatment peeling off. Having now had this for several weeks the root of the bristles is becoming mouldy and is looking pretty nasty. I should not have replaced the botanics brush I had purchased from boots with this, especially as the botanics brush was used for many years and only now is a little black on the sides. Disappointed to say the least. The nail brush I bought was meant to be one of the best in the world. Within a few days the wood started to discolour badly. When I complained I felt as if I was being quizzed with a view to it being my fault ‘which way up was it kept?’. I was prepared to accept that it was just a duff brush and simply wanted a new one but no, I had to send it back and then much to my surprise I was given a refund rather then a new one! Overall a waste of time.Bought one from Boots at a tenth of the price.Hugely disappointing as I have always been a great fan of the 'Kent' brand. The brush turned black after a very short while as water was absorbed through the bristles into the wood, turning it black and whatever we do to try and dry it out the brush has this very unsightly black appearance. Sad to say I will not be buying any more wood brushes from Kent again. This was an expensive mistake and not something that I would have expected from a 'By Appointment' product. Very sad as I used to like 'Kent'.This is a great brush in its function, nice bristles, strong and natural....its just that with daily use some black staining has developed on the ends. For this standard of brush from a company with a reputation for excellent quality in production and materials this was a surprise. It works great though, just hope it doesn't rot at the ends. I do dry it out each day too on the window-sill so this is a strange occurrence. My husband has been trying to get one of these nailbrushes for a while (he prefers the short stubby additional bristles) but has been unable to see any in the shops so he was thrilled when I found him this one.
