GraciasThe Kuhn cookie press is easy to use and makes perfect little cookies, it's just too bad that it's a bit chintzy in construction. The press consists of the trigger/plunger assembly, the clear plastic tube that holds the dough, and the end cap that holds the cookie pattern disk. The mechanics of the press (the handle, springs, plunger rod, and release button) are all made of metal, while the rest of the press is plastic. The cookie pattern discs are made of aluminum and include a wide variety of shapes and styles. While all the important parts are made of metal, the plastics used in the rest of the press are very cheap feeling, and indeed the metal trigger kept cutting into the plastic used for the handle when I would press out cookies, breaking some of the plastic handle off. Thankfully when the press is assembled and used it feels fairly sturdy in the hand.Using the press is very simple. You simply screw the plastic dough tube to the trigger assembly, press the button on top of the trigger to pull back the plunger, insert some dough, then pick a cookie disk and screw it onto the other end of the dough tube. Once assembled and loaded you pull the trigger until the dough is compacted and starts to come out of the disk. One pull of the trigger clicks the plunger forward the perfect amount to make one cookie. It works very well and I used many shapes, and only had a problem with one of them not releasing the cookies perfectly. The press itself is dishwasher safe. I've run it through the machine a few times and it came out clean and without any issues. The cookie pattern disks should be hand washed, however.I tried the recipe that is included with the press and the cookies came out perfectly shaped and delicious. They are fairly small and thin so you get lots of cookies from each batch. All in all... a fun way to make tasty, perfect cookies. It is almost time for holiday cookies. I love the buttery cookie dough and then making different shaped cookies. My cookie press died last year. I forgot that mine was no longer working, and I needed to make my famous cheese straws for hor'doeuvres on the weekend. I looked at all of the reviews and found mostly five star reviews for this Kuhn Rikon. And, the best part is that with my Prime Membership, I received the press in two days with no shipping fees. The Kuhn Rikon arrived well packaged. Explicit directions on how to use the cookie press were inside, and the cookie press is easy to use. This is all an A+. The cheese straw recipe I use can make the use of a cookie press difficult. The dough can be heavy, and often I have to use a lot of pressure to,push the handle. I found this cookie press very easy to use,, less pressure and perfect star lines. It is an easy clean up. The cheese straws were delicious, and devoured! Now on to holiday cookies!Highly Recommended. prisrob [email protected] I made this purchase I did a lot of research on the different cookie presses. I chose this one for the ease of use, other people's reviews & satisfaction and reputable seller. Price was not a factor. My second choice would have been Martha Stewart's cookie press which I may still buy. This Kuhn Rikon Cookie Press arrived slightly later than expected-but in perfect condition. Before it arrived I searched for a video on line that showed how to use it. So once it came I put it together easily. Despite having another cookie recipe I wanted to use, I first tried the recipe they recommended and was enclosed with the press. The press worked flawlessly and the construction workers that were adding an addition to my home all came running when they smelled the cookies. By the time the last batch came out of the oven the workers had their fill and they all lived happily ever after!I think the key to the press performing flawlessly was watching the video. They explain how to put it together, load and the timing (which is the key) to pressing the dough. From reading other reviews I found that so many people were having difficulty putting the thing together and getting the cookies to come out perfect in shape. This was not my experience. WATCH A VIDEO!For what it is worth my only complaint is the cookies were extremely small. This is the only reason I would try another press.I own a Wear-Ever electric cookie shooter that was handed down to me by my mother and the thing is great. Every Christmas I get together with my sister to bake cookies and bring my shooter. She has tried a couple newer electric shooters and all have broken and fallen apart within the first use. I decided to buy this for her for christmas this year. This manual shooter was extremely easy to use and the cookies shot out perfectly. I like that it comes with a wide array of discs so we were able to make newer shapes such as the christmas wreathes. It would be nice if the barrel held a little more dough since you have to refill it frequently if making a big batch of cookies. It is extremely easy to refill though. You have to hand fill and press the dough into the barrel though, so it would be nice if it came with a "plunger" like my wear-ever electric press has. I would definitely recommend this product over any of the newer electric type cookie presses. Very easy to use and my hand did not get tired at all.I had been thinking about getting one of these for a while, but thought it might be of faff to use and clean, and become yet another gadget taking up space in the cupboard. How wrong I was - really wish I'd got one sooner! Anyway, have one now and have just finished making my first batch of cookies. Really easy and very successful. It arrives neatly boxed and you could use the box for storage. Very little assembly required and it isn't rocket science to operate it. The enclosed information leaflet is straight forward and I followed their instructions to the letter - even though I was convinced that using a non-stick baking sheet was going to result in disaster. Out of interest I used a couple of old sheets which I think had been non-stick once upon a time but are now looking pretty battered. I found that if I gave the cookies just a couple of minutes to cool before taking them off the sheet with a pallet knife they popped off perfectly - a couple cracked but they still tasted good ;-).Four recipes are included and I used the vanilla cookie one. Makes a fairly stiff dough but it feeds through the press with ease. Produces masses of cookies; recipe says 4 dozen but I made in excess of 50 with just a little dough left which my son was happy to eat straight from the bowl! The cookies are super quick to 'press out' and all the shapes I tried worked a treat. You get a good range of discs to shape the cookies (with seasonal Christmas and Halloween options) and it's easy to swap discs part way through. Just keep a close eye on them while cooking as they can go from golden to burnt in the blink of an eye!!Clean up seems quite straight forward - discs need to be hand washed or apparently they'll discolour; the rest can go in the top tray of your dishwasher.End product looked and tasted very professional. I'm planning to make loads for our school Christmas fair to sell in little cellophane bags and will be making batches to take as hostess gifts when out visiting - will pop them in an inexpensive glass jar with a bit of gingham ribbon round the lid. Friends are sure to think I've gone to a lot of time and trouble (if only they knew!!).Like others have said, I thought this might be a faffy gimmick, but it is very easy to use and clean. I often do a batch of cookies for the children's work at our church, and with a bit of imagination, the cookie designs can be accepted as a variety of unusual interpretations! Tomorrow we are having a bit of a shipwreck theme so I've used the cheese straw star shape to make planks of wood! The dinosaur shape made some quite acceptable camels one month too! The recipes use American 'cup' measurements but I used the following recipe for some yummy biscuits:400g plain flour, 180g light brown soft sugar, 2 and a 1/2 tsps. vanilla extract, 1 beaten egg and 250g butter. Really does make loads of bikkies (I made 114 'planks of wood' ie 3inch lengths using the star press). Although the recipe does make a lot, they are really only a mouthful each and keep quite well in an airtight tin.The Kuhn Rikon Clear Cookie Press is everything I wanted from a cookie press. It's easy to assemble, easy to clean, easy to use and has quite a number of designs that can be used. Cookies made with it have been a great success.I used this cookie maker. Its a bit small and you are limited to the mix you can use. would say its a good product for kids to play with but not for if you want to make a lot of biscuits. Easy to clean and use.Brilliant cookie press. Make sure tins are really cold. And its so easy to use
