This device is a great addition to my shop! It goes well with my free-standing 16-1/2" drill press; it may be too big for most bench top drill presses. Below is information that will let you judge if this vise will work for you.It is 9-3/4" long x 8-7/8" wide. The bottom of the jaws sits 1-5/8" above the drill press table. The jaws themselves are 1-1/2" high x 5-7/8" wide. You probably will want a wood block on the jaws. To accommodate this there are two ¼" holes spaced 3-5/8" apart.Regarding the quick release screw, a 30 degree five tooth nut segment engages the screw. It has a pivot arranged such that when you tighten it, the threads on the nut bite into the screw. You can rotate the nut away from the screw and slide the jaw forward or back. If the jaw is away from the work, you can also push on the screw with the nut down and the jaw will ratchet forward with ease. The unit comes well packaged. Amazon had the box the vise came in packed in another box. The vise was in a plastic bag inside the box. The bare metal on the vise is protected with an oil coating which needs to be removed before the unit is used.
