This drill press represents incredible value. Everything is covered in an oily film, so be prepared to wipe everything down with lacquer thinner and isopropyl alcohol. The base that sits on your bench is not cast iron but stamped steel, but is still very sturdy. The motor runs smooth and very quiet. I was most worried about run out. I'm surprised there doesn't seem to be any run out. I don't have a dial indicator, but chucked up a long 3/8 inch drill bit and touched a screwdriver shaft to the spinning shank of the drill bit and it was dead smooth. I then drilled a deep hole with a Forstner drill bit and the edge was perfect, indicating no run out. I then put a 13" long tube in the hole to see if the hole was square to the wood surface in all directions and it is, very surprising for what this cost! I don't see how you can go wrong at this price.
