Description

In the no-nonsense, authoritative tradition of the best-selling AP Stylebook, the top editors at the AP have written the definitive guide to punctuation. More people write for the Associated Press than for any other news service, and more writers take their style and word-usage cues from this world-famous institution than from any other journalism source. From the when and how of the ampersand to the rules for dashes, slashes, and brackets; from the correct moment for the overused exclamation point to the rules of engagement for the semicolon, The AP Guide to Punctuation is an invaluable and easy-to-use guide to the most important aspect of clear and persuasive writing.

This handy little book is a punctuation lifesaver for this retired newspaper writer who is now a book editor Yes, there are times you must check to be certain something is correct. This little guide by the computer is a must for me. Sometimes, after a lot of editing where you see things done incorrectly so much, you start doubting what's right. Well, at least I do. This book clears it all up in a jiffy. Easy to navigate and thin enough to be quick to check, it's perfect to have by your side as you work. Even if you are not a professional writer, this would be a perfect review guide. Students writing term papers could benefit from owning this handy little guide. I know. I used to be a teaching assistant and saw a lot of bad punctuation in some of those papers I had to correct. There are some things that spell-check just can't fix. This book will help. My favorite section is about the hyphen. This is a misused punctuation mark which is sometimes even left out completely when needed for compound modifiers. I highly recommend this book.
